A Tauranga disability support service needs a Support Worker / Life Facilitator for its 24/7 team. The client has tetraplegia, is highly motivated, likes to stay active and engaged, and has full-time commitments. This goes beyond basic caregiving: you would share everyday life with the team through personal cares, daily activities and company, and drive and accompany the client to work and family commitments, with some travel.
It is a full-time contract. Day shifts run 7 am to 5 pm and night shifts 5 pm to 7 am, with a sleepover, for about 35 hours a week or more across roughly 2 to 4 shifts, plus 2 weekend shifts a month. The client and team train you. The employer is accredited and holds job tokens, so sponsorship for an AEWV work visa is possible.

Key Responsibilities
- Give the client personal cares, help with daily activities and companionship
- Share the 24/7 team's AM and PM shifts
- Drive the client and travel with them so work and family plans are kept
- Work to the care plan and job description, help keep the setting comfortable and engaging, and help the team coordinate the roster
Requirements & Eligibility
- Currently studying towards an NZQA health and wellbeing qualification at Level 3 or above
- Understands how a 24/7 roster is coordinated
- Practical, hands-on training experience linked to a care plan and job description
- Professional, honest, trustworthy and reliable; good communication skills and able to adapt to changing needs
- Shows initiative and common sense, with a positive attitude
- Holds a driver licence
- A high level of English
- Strong availability for afternoons, evenings and sleepovers, plus 2 weekend shifts a month
