Cookie Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
JobsAbroad Kenya carries no advertising tags and sets no cookie of its own. The only cookies you may receive come from our two analytics tools. This page lists everything that can be written to your browser while you use the site.
1. Terms used on this page
For simplicity, "cookies" here stands for every way a website can store data in your browser:
- Cookie: a small text file saved by a site and sent back to it on later visits.
- sessionStorage: belongs to one browser tab and is erased when that tab is closed.
- localStorage and IndexedDB: remain until the person using the browser clears them.
2. The one item we store ourselves
Our code writes just one item to a visitor's browser, and it is not a cookie.
chunk_reload_at sits in sessionStorage and holds a timestamp. If we publish an update while one of our pages is open, it lets the page reload once instead of failing. It carries no information about you, disappears when the tab is closed and is never used to identify, count or follow you on other websites.
4. Staff sign-in
A staff member who signs in on the hidden admin page has the session held by Firebase Authentication (Google) in IndexedDB or localStorage, with their login email in localStorage. A visitor who never opens that page gets none of this on their device.
5. Other resources our pages fetch
Google Fonts. The typefaces come from Google, so Google receives your IP address and basic browser information.
YouTube. Preview images for YouTube Shorts are fetched from i.ytimg.com; a page without videos hides the section and fetches nothing. The video player itself loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you tap a video, and from that point YouTube may store data under Google's policies.
WhatsApp and share buttons. Inactive until you tap them.
Linked websites. After you open one, government websites and the other sites we link to (Skills Assessment Australia, Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and English test practice) set their own cookies under their own policies.
6. No cookie banner, and why
With no advertising pixels on the site and no consent banner, the analytics cookies are set as soon as a page opens. Google Analytics is set up to run without its cookies for visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland. Refusing cookies is easy, as the next section shows.
7. How to keep control
Your browser settings let you delete or block site data at any moment, and the public site goes on working as usual. A private or incognito window throws away its storage when it is closed. If Google Fonts is blocked, a font installed on your device takes its place. To stop YouTube storing anything, just do not play the videos, because the preview images do not start the player. The staff login is the only feature that needs browser storage. To switch off Google Analytics alone, add the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to your browser.
8. Revisions
If we add another cookie or stored item it will appear here, together with a new date at the top. Personal data in general is covered by the Privacy Policy.
9. Ask us
If something on this page is unclear, email jobs@jobsabroad.ke or message us on WhatsApp and we will explain it.
