Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen
- Direct the cooks and keep order during busy service
- Rotate between sections, with most time on grill and pasta
- Add ideas for new dishes and seasonal menus, and improve recipes already in use
- Coach junior chefs and give them support
- Keep the kitchen clean, hygienic and well arranged
- Plan preparation, stock rotation and ordering, keep waste low, and have each section arranged and stocked before the first order arrives
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year as a Sous Chef in a busy à la carte restaurant
- Strong background in high-volume kitchens
- Excellent cooking skills, particularly on grill and pasta
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience in training and supervising kitchen staff
- Attention to detail
- A commitment to cleanliness
