A bar and restaurant in Brisbane that has been around for a while and prides itself on its food, its service and its happy customers is hiring an experienced, motivated Senior Chef / Chef for its kitchen team, full time. You would work alongside the Head Chef.
The day covers preparation, cooking, coordinating service, keeping the kitchen organised and holding food quality high. Applicants need current Australian work rights at the time of application. The employer also offers sponsorship opportunities to the right candidate, provided every other requirement is met.

Key Responsibilities
- Be the Head Chef's right hand in running the kitchen each day and getting service ready
- Cook and plate dishes of a high standard that match the venue's style
- Keep lunch, dinner and weekend rushes running without hitches
- Keep every plate consistent in quality, flavour, portion size and look, and help plan menus and the flow of work in the kitchen
- Keep an eye on stock, storage, what needs ordering and what is being wasted
- Handle, prepare and store food safely, and keep the kitchen clean, hygienic and safe to work in
- Guide less experienced cooks, and work with the front-of-house team so customers have a good experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2–3 years working as a Chef or Senior Chef
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification
- Solid understanding of how commercial kitchens run, and of preparing food
- Able to support the Head Chef with the kitchen's day-to-day needs
- Stays calm under pressure in a busy restaurant and bar
- Careful about detail, presentation and consistency
- Communicates well, works well in a team, and has a reliable, professional and positive attitude
- Good grasp of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, and current Australian work rights at the time of application
