Key Responsibilities
- Prepare dough by mixing, kneading, dividing and moulding as the recipe and schedule require
- Check proofing conditions, oven temperatures and baking times as the work goes on
- Bake and present bread, rolls, buns and savoury products to a consistently high standard
- Support apprentices and bakery assistants and help them develop
- Keep the bakery clean and safe, following food safety and workplace safety procedures
- Assist with stock control and ordering of ingredients, and keep production waste down
- Work with the bakery manager and team to meet daily production, and serve customers in a friendly way when required
Requirements & Eligibility
- A trade qualification in baking, recognised as such
- At least two years of relevant experience in commercial baking
- Strong practical skills in bread and yeast-based bakery production
- A commitment to the quality of the product
- A commitment to food safety
- A commitment to cleanliness
- Good communication skills, cooperation with others and efficiency in a busy production environment
- Availability for early morning starts, weekends and public holidays as rostered
