A hospitality group with hostels and hybrid hotel-hostel stays, plus food and beverage venues, in Australia and New Zealand is about to open a large new property in Auckland. It wants a General Manager to run the site, with the heads of Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance reporting to that person.
Senior oversight, the guest experience, team culture, financial performance and compliance all sit with you. The role starts before opening, with a January 2027 start planned ahead of a March opening, so you would help build the operation and the leadership team. A cover letter is required.
The company is an accredited employer, so candidates based in New Zealand or overseas are welcome and it can sponsor visa applications for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the whole property, with the Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance heads reporting to you
- Be accountable for guest experience, team culture, finances, standards and compliance
- Help assemble the operation and leadership team ahead of opening and take the project from plan to launch
- After launch, keep departments connected, back your leaders and keep everyone aligned
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience running a busy hotel or hostel
- Understanding of lodging, yield management and the drivers of commercial performance, plus comfort with budgets, labour, revenue and cost control
- Some food and beverage exposure, ideally in bars, restaurants or busy social venues
- Knowledge of Auckland's hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential
- A cover letter, required to be considered for interview
