Chef de Partie

Visa sponsorship

Hospitality · Whangarei, New Zealand · Full-Time · $32/hr · Visa: Employer sponsored

Chefs who love seasonal cooking may like this opening at a landmark hotel on the Northland waterfront. It is hiring for Chef de Partie jobs that are permanent and full-time, 30 hours a week, in a kitchen team described as supportive and professional.

The post gives you a section of your own to run. You keep stock in good order and watch that nothing leaves the kitchen below standard or late. The hotel favours applicants who already have work eligibility in New Zealand and may also consider sponsorship for a suitable candidate.

Chefs in Nairobi or Mombasa kitchens should show the sections they have run on a CV, the style of kitchen and the food standards they worked to. Make a chef CV with Build AI CV and keep your section experience near the top.

Key Responsibilities

  • Know what is on the daily and ongoing menus, functions and specials and have your section set up for them
  • Come forward with dish ideas and submit new menu items when the kitchen asks
  • Hold the right amount of stock, at the right quality, for your section and tell the Head or Sous Chef when you run short
  • Check every part of a dish is cooked properly, meets standard and is ready on time
  • Cook to recipes and the Food Control Plan and keep prep and service areas clean
  • Prep the amount of raw materials and stock that demand needs, wasting as little as possible
  • Guide junior staff in their duties and flag maintenance issues

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Background as a Chef de Partie in a quality kitchen
  • Enthusiasm for fresh, seasonal produce and steady standards
  • Teamwork, reliability and energy, plus a commitment to a positive and professional kitchen culture
