A multidisciplinary financial services firm in Wollongong, offering tax, accounting, lending and financial advice, is hiring an Accountant who has around 2 to 3 years of Australian public practice behind them. You would join a collaborative team, work for SME clients and take on more direct client work as you grow, assisted and reviewed by an experienced Senior Accountant.
Mentoring and CPA or CA development support come with the position, along with a genuine path towards Senior Accountant and Client Manager. Employer sponsorship could be considered for the right candidate, depending on experience, position suitability and visa eligibility. It is a role for an accountant who likes variety across client types and enjoys explaining numbers clearly. Steady guidance from a senior colleague helps you build confidence.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce income tax returns and financial statements for a mix of individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
- Draw up Business Activity Statements and perform accounting and tax work for SME clients
- Handle individual tax returns and help clients with year-end tax planning
- Deal with clients, and with the ATO when needed
- Organise your own workload around statutory deadlines
- Assist the Senior Accountant in handling client portfolios on Xero and other cloud systems
Requirements & Eligibility
- Around 2 to 3 years in Australian public practice accounting
- Experience preparing tax returns and financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
- A sound working understanding of Australian taxation and compliance, BAS preparation included, plus solid Xero abilities
- Sound written and verbal communication, with solid attention to detail
- Able to handle competing deadlines
- An accounting, commerce or equivalent tertiary qualification; CPA or CA studies (or plans to start them) are highly regarded
