A manufacturer that leads its industry and operates nationwide needs a practical Production / Site Manager with a manufacturing or mechanical grounding for a country production site, a rural location some two hours away from Perth. The post answers to senior managers based on the East Coast, which leaves day-to-day decisions with you while senior backing is there when needed.
It is very much a floor-level job where machinery takes centre stage, and the person appointed must be based close to the site from Monday to Friday at the least. Key Responsibilities
- Be answerable for how much the site produces and how the work flows, and look after safety on site
- Cultivate local suppliers and contacts, and deal with outside contractors for upkeep and transport
- Sort out who works when, and keep the site staffed
- Weigh in when upgrades and process changes are decided
- Run quality checks and stock control
- Find the cause of machine problems on site and recognise when a specialist supplier is needed; talk to people inside and outside the business and keep the crew working well
Requirements & Eligibility
- A mechanical or fitting background, with qualifications preferred
- Has led people in production settings before
- Knows how machines are maintained, including preventative schedules, and spots bottlenecks and plans the production run
- Works comfortably alongside both skilled and unskilled staff
- Handles stock control and understands logistics
- Well organised, with safety always first
- Communicates well, motivates the crew and is at ease with software for admin and systems tasks
- Happy living in a country location at least from Monday to Friday
