Bulk freight equipment, prime movers and trailers keep a long-running road transport company in regional New South Wales busy, and it wants an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic for its heavy commercial vehicles. The job is permanent and full-time, based in Dubbo or at a second workshop in the Riverina, with a rotating roster to Dubbo.
Your work would be troubleshooting complex faults, repairing and doing planned maintenance so that vehicles spend little time off the road and the company stays within NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules. Visa sponsorship (subclass 482) is available for suitably qualified candidates, and people who already hold a valid visa in Australia are preferred. Employment is subject to holding a licence and passing a medical and a drug and alcohol test.

Key Responsibilities
- Service engines, transmissions and brakes to the OEM's guidelines through scheduled preventive maintenance and logbook servicing
- Trace and repair electrical, mechanical and emission control faults with advanced diagnostic tools
- Rebuild major components, and carry out fabrication work when needed
- Keep NHVR compliance in full and your records detailed enough to satisfy audits
- Follow workshop safety rules, handle work orders in fleet management software, help with roadside breakdowns and coach drivers on vehicle checks and defect reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- Background as a heavy diesel mechanic of at least 2 years, with road transport the preferred setting
- Qualified in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines, and comfort with diagnostic software; NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment experience is a desirable extra
- Holds a current licence and can pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
