Automotive Mechanic / WoF Inspector

A growing, independently owned workshop in Auckland wants experienced technicians on permanent, full-time terms, Monday to Saturday. Two positions are open. Position 1 mixes general workshop work with WoF inspections carried out to NZTA requirements, so it needs a current WoF Inspector authority. Position 2 suits an experienced mechanic who concentrates on servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and the repairs that follow a WoF check.
The employer is AEWV accredited, which means Immigration New Zealand has approved it to sponsor overseas hires on the Accredited Employer Work Visa. Applicants send a CV with a short introduction covering their experience, qualifications and the position they want.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain vehicles, and find faults through diagnostics.
- Repair brakes, suspension and steering, including wheel alignment and related suspension checks.
- Inspect, fit and rotate tyres.
- Repair engines and cooling systems, and handle electrical and general mechanical repairs.
- Carry out pre-WoF inspections and the repairs that come out of them.
- Work with diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
- Fill in job cards and repair records.
- Keep workmanship and workshop safety at a high standard and deal with customers professionally.
- Position 1: perform WoF inspections to NZTA requirements.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Solid hands-on automotive mechanical experience, with the ability to work independently.
- Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills and close attention to detail and workmanship.
- Reliable, honest and professional, with good communication skills.
- A full NZ driver's licence.
- An NZ automotive qualification is preferred.
- Position 1: a current WoF Inspector authority is required.
