Flooring Installer
Visa sponsorship
Construction · Perth, WA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored
A long-established Australian floor coverings business wants a Flooring Installer for permanent full-time commercial work across Perth and Western Australia, on projects with Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders, reporting to the Site Supervisor.
Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified overseas installers. Tidy habits on site and careful measuring make the difference in this trade. Installers who plan ahead usually finish with fewer problems.
Flooring installers in Nairobi or Mombasa should list the floor types laid, the commercial sites worked on and any NITA trade test certificate, plus a White Card if you hold one. Build a flooring installer CV with Build AI CV and keep the commercial experience first.
Key Responsibilities
- Lay the floor finishes you specialise in, from sheet vinyl, LVT and other resilient types (welding and coving included) to carpet and carpet tiles
- Get subfloors ready by levelling, grinding, patching and priming, after testing moisture and flatness and recording the results
- Study finishes schedules and drawings, then set out and measure with accuracy
- Keep the job on programme by working with the builder's site team and the other trades
- Inspect, store and protect materials on site, and keep off-cuts and waste down
- Fill in photo records, quality checklists, daily reports and timesheets, and observe every site safety rule, induction and safe work method statement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Commercial flooring experience of at least 3 years, in Australia or overseas
- Abilities in at least one trade: vinyl installation, carpet installation or subfloor preparation
- A floor covering trade qualification such as a Certificate III in Flooring Technology, or an overseas equivalent in qualification or experience (preferred, not required)
- A WA White Card, or the capacity to get one before starting, and a driver's licence valid in Australia
- Sound communication in English on site, reliability and solid attention to detail
